I know Thanksgiving is not part of the Australian calendar but
I have a number of American friends and I also happen to think
that thanksgiving - the act of being grateful - is one of the
essential life skills needed today. And certainly one that
contributes to inviting happiness into our lives.
Being grateful features in the EMF Balancing process.
In Phase IV: 'The transformation process of being at peace with
your history is preceded by gratitude for all the experiences
you have had in your life.'
We would all like to lay to rest the demons of the past and be
at peace with our personal history. In my own experience, this
is not an easy process but I have found that the daily practice
of gratitude makes it easier to get a perspective on my life,
pick myself up and keep going.
In Phase VI: Gratitude is one of the attributes of mastery
associated with the Templates of Infinite Compassion. The two
Templates of Infinite Compassion are located in each of our
hands, suggesting that taking action is an essential part of
the practice of compassion.
The other attributes of mastery associated with compassion are:
balance, generosity, compassion, neutrality, kindness,
communication, humility, joyfulness, respect and patience.
In the Personal Growth program, gratitude features again in the
final step of the Co-Creative Cycle. When we finally achieve
a goal we have been working towards, don't just rush on to the
next achievement. Take time out to savour the achievement, enjoy
our success and express gratitude for having reached this
milestone.
Here's a simple practice that I've seen recommended at various
times over the years. It's one I try to remember to practice
regularly myself. I've found that it is always helpful.
Every morning when you wake up, think of five things you are
grateful for.
Every evening before you go to sleep, again think of five
things you are grateful for.
Here's my own gratitude list as of this moment of writing.
1. I am grateful to still be alive.
2. I am grateful for the software to send this newsletter.
3. I am grateful for my American friends.
4. I am grateful that I have a friend coming round this evening.
5. I am grateful that my smoke alarm was fixed this morning.
Till next time,
Invite more happiness,
Justus
